What is Apple Developer Academy (as an institution)?
The Apple Developer Academy is a global initiative by Apple designed to cultivate the next generation of well-rounded, world-class app developers, designers, and entrepreneurs. In particular, in Indonesia, our goal is to strengthen and empower the economy by fostering world-class developers for the world’s most innovative, dynamic, and vibrant application development ecosystem.
The Apple Developer Academy in Indonesia is the first initiative of its kind in Southeast Asia. With academies located in Tangerang, Surabaya, Batam, Jakarta and Bali, the program welcomes interested participants from across Indonesia and beyond. The Apple Developer Academy @ BINUS, Bali is also the first in Indonesia to accept international students from around the world.

What is the Apple Developer Academy program?
The Apple Developer Academy offers a 9-month learning journey to interested applicants aged 18 and above from any discipline, educational background or coding experience.
The Academy program uses the Challenge-Based Learning framework to encourage students to address personal, community, and global challenges. Over the nine months, the program covers the basics of coding, as well as areas such as design, marketing, and project management, empowering students with the full suite of skills needed to become world-class entrepreneurs and developers.

Additional support varies by location:

Learners in Batam may receive dorm allowances and access to shuttle bus services.

International learners in Bali will receive assistance with the visa process. However, you are responsible for your own housing, visa fees, living, and travel expenses during the program.
Please check with your selected Academy for the most accurate and up-to-date support details, as each Academy may offer different facilities and policies.

How long is the program?
The program (learning period) runs for 9 months, beginning in March and concluding in December each year.
Please note that onboarding activities will begin in February, and participants may be required to attend in-person sessions at the Academy before the official program starts. The exact start date will be announced separately.

What is the daily time commitment for the program?
This is a fully in-person program (not online), and participants are required to commit to 20 hours per week, typically 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

​Who will I work with at the Academy?
You’ll collaborate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, skill levels, and ages. They come from diverse areas of expertise, not only technology and design, but also healthcare, performing arts, fashion, psychology, and more.
So far, participants have included housewives, professionals, university students, inventors, teachers, and even government officials.
The Academy values interdisciplinary collaboration, so you’ll be working in diverse teams that reflect real-world scenarios.

What is the learning methodology used in the Academy?
The Apple Developer Academy uses Challenge-Based Learning (CBL), a collaborative, hands-on approach to education that encourages learners to:

If I’m not a coder, can I still succeed at the Academy & Foundation programs?
Absolutely. You don’t need to have a coding background or programming experience to join. Applicants from all disciplines are welcome.
What matters most is your ability to think logically, collaborate effectively, and communicate ideas clearly. All the necessary technical and non-technical skills will be introduced as part of the curriculum.
Everyone in the program is given the same opportunity to learn and grow. As long as you are highly motivated and committed to making a positive impact on your community and environment, you will thrive at the Academy.
